Establishing Carnie Sports CIC

Harold and Temi, two young care leavers with a passion for sports, had been providing after-school sports coaching for young people.

Recognising the need for their service and the positive benefits it delivered they turned to Merton Connected to help them.

With the help of Merton Connected, Carnie Sports CIC was formally registered in February 2020. The development team assisted by providing them with space and computer access, help with producing relevant policies and procedures - including a robust safeguarding policy - and helped them achieve a Youth Worker qualification with London Youth.  One of the partners, Harold was nominated for a youth exchange programme and was due to travel to Chicago in April 2020, but unfortunately the trip was cancelled due to lockdown.

In partnership with Tooting and Mitcham and Pollards Hill Youth Club the team delivered after-school and school holiday sports coaching to young people in the local community.
